An alder helps keep residents connected with city government and the city council. In my current role as alder (temporarily appointed by the Council), I have held regular office hours throughout the district to ensure that I fully understand residents’ concerns and to provide updates on the Council’s activities. In a full term, I would continue to focus on outreach to my district neighbors (including neighborhood, home owner and condo associations).

I will also continue to utilize the City of Madison’s District 19 blog to keep neighbors informed of pertinent issues. Neighbors can subscribe to blog posts via e-mail and posts are shared on Facebook, Nextdoor and Twitter.

The best ideas often come from vigorous discussion and listening to others. If elected to a full term, I will create a new stakeholders group composed of representatives from the various neighborhood, homeowner and condo associations in the district. This group would discuss ideas regarding policy and share best practices on neighborhood engagement.

Finally, I will work with the city to improve the technology used for constituent services. This would include looking at implementing 311, improving the city’s online presence and improving how the city manages citizen reported issues.
